Director Dr Mike Wells presented at the annual conference of the Association Française des Ingénieurs Ecologues in Lille, France. The conference title was 'Intégrer La Biodiversité Dans La Stratégie des Entreprises et des Territoires'. Mike's presentation 'Securing Significant Net Gains For Biodiversity Through Development Control In England' was well-received by the over 100 delegates present. There was much interest in the creative aspects of ecological design in the UK.
Director Dr Mike Wells gave a public presentation entitled 'A Biophilic Bristol 'to a packed audience in Bristol at a conference with the title 'Making our Futures – the shape of Bristol to come'. The conference, organised by the Royal Society of Arts and the Academy of Urbanism , and attended by the Mayor of Bristol, was considered to set a new and stronger green vision of Bristol's sustainable future. Mike created a vision that drew on some of the best examples of ecourbanism in the UK and abroad, in several of which Biodiversity by Design had played a key design role.
Director Dr Mike Wells delivered the keynote address and lecture entitled Biodiverse Urban Design in Theory and Practice at the Hans and Roger Strauch Symposium on Sustainable Design: (1-3 February 2013) at the ivy-league Cornell University, Ithaca, USA. Dr Wells also took part in workshops with research students.
