Dr Mike Wells

Mike co-founded Biodiversity by Design in 2006 expressly to engage in promoting truly sustainable exemplar development projects, multifunctional landscapes and global biodiversity conservation. Mike is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. He is also a Chartered Scientist, Biologist and Environmentalist. He is a recognised expert in urban habitat creation and ecosystem service provision, a Design Council/CABE Built Environment Expert, an Academician of the Academy of Urbanism, a regular panelist of the Bristol Urban Design Forum and former lecturer on the London School of Economics Cities Programme. Mike is also a leading practitioner in using ecological analysis as a tool for positive green design and co-authored the UK's first national guidelines on ecological impact assessment. He is the author of many papers and articles on ecologically informed design and is a Visiting Research Fellow in at the Bath School of Architecture and Civil Engineering where he teaches examined courses exploring the relationships between ecology, masterplanning and architecture.
